Please note, the Pacific Resort Aitutaki Nui will be closed for a few days in early January 2020, to allow workers to resurface the main front drive, refurbish the pool, beachfront area, the restaurant and the lobby area.
The Pacific Resort Aitutaki Nui is one of The Cook Islands' newest resort hotels, opening in October 2002 and is the sister hotel to the Pacific Resort on Rarotonga. The development of the hotel has been very carefully planned to ensure that it is in harmony with its natural surroundings, and a great use of wood and stone has been made to create a natural feel for the buildings and the surrounding areas.
The Resort is set in 17 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens with a private white sand beach stretching for 650 metres. The lagoon water is warm and shallow and is excellent for swimming, snorkelling and kayaking.
The hotel offers 29 bungalows in four categories; Premium Beachfront Bungalows (1- & 2-Bed), Premium Beachfront Bungalow Plus, Ultimate Beachfront Bungalow, and Ultimate Beachfront Villas. All the individual bungalows are very well appointed with ensuite bathrooms with double vanities, walk-in shower and hairdryer, a king size bed or 2 twin beds, a spacious sitting area with sofa and chairs, air conditioning, ceiling fans, a small kitchenette area with sink, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini-bar/fridge, a TV, CD stereo system, in-room safe, and wide, sliding doors opening to a large, furnished private covered deck, with views of the lagoon through the shady palm trees, and steps down to the beach and a beachside shower.
The Premium Beachfront Bungalows offer 1- or 2-bedroom accommodation, ideal for larger parties or families, or if you just want some extra space. They offer 1 or 2 separate bedrooms, a central lounge area, 2 ensuite bathrooms, 2 dressing rooms, and 2 large sundecks with beach showers.
The Ultimate Beachfront Villas are elevated on black volcanic rock with private steps down to the sand. They are split level, with separate bedroom and sitting room, indoor and outdoor garden bathroom, and large private sundeck with stunning views.
The Resort has a lovely three-level restaurant, the Rapae Bay Restaurant, overlooking the lagoon and the resort's infinity swimming pool. It offers an excellent menu, from daily breakfasts to an enticing array of fresh seafood and local island produce.
There is also the more casual, beachfront Black Rock Cafe and Bar, offering light bites, salads and desserts, along with a full bar service.
For the ultimate romantic evening, a candlelight dinner can be served at a private table right at the waters edge.
Some nights, they also offer an Island Night Dance Show, where you can sample a local foods buffet and enjoy a song and dance performance by local performers.
The Resort offers a beachfront infinity pool (recently refurbished, along with the surrounding terrace), a Boutique gift store and the Tiare Spa, offering many therapies and treatments. Whale watching tours are available from June to October, and fishing, snorkelling and diving excursions can be booked by the freindly hotel staff for you. Complimentary masks and snorkels are available in each room, and use of additional equipment, such as kayaks and flippers, can be arranged through the guest servies team. The Resort is ideally located to explore the island, and is close to shopping, bars and restaurants, as well as the many activities the island has to offer. Scooters or bikes are easy to hire, and ride, so exploring around the island villages and towns is an enjoyable experience
Not only is the Pacific Resort Aitutaki Nui one of the newest in the Cook Islands but we also believe it's the best. The visitor is afforded a sophistication and elegance that is not found at any other resort in the Cook Islands. So if your length of stay in the Cooks will allow, a trip to Aitutaki and a stay at The Pacific Resort is a must.
The Pacific Resort Aitutaki Nui participates in the 'Dine Around the Island' special offer, with 5, 6 and 7 night packages. Please contact us for further information and prices

Currently, there are very limited International flight connections to and from the Cook islands. All international flights operate into Rarotonga and there are domestic connection flights into Aitutaki, Atiu and Mangaia.
The main international carrier is Air New Zealand, with direct air service provided six days a week from and to Auckland (currently there is no flight on a Friday), and once a week to and from Los Angeles, currently departing Rarotonga on a Friday arriving LA on the Saturday. The return flight leaves LA on Saturday and arrives Rarotonga on Sunday morning. They operate on a new B777-200ER aircraft, with 26 Business, 40 Premium Economy and 246 Economy seats. The Premium Economy seats are the first to be offered on this route.
There is also a year round once a week flight with Air New Zealand between Rarotonga and Sydney, departing Rarotonga on Thursday arriving Sydney on Friday and departing Sydney on Friday arriving in Rarotonga on Friday, operating on a B767-300 aircraft, with 24 Business and 206 Economy seats.
There is also a year round once a week flight with Air New Zealand between Rarotonga and Sydney, departing Rarotonga on a Friday arriving Sydney on Saturday and departing Sydney on Saturday arriving in Rarotonga on Saturday. From November 2016, the schedule will change to opertaing ex Rarotonga on a Thursday and returning from Sydney on Friday, operating on a B767-300 aircraft, with 24 Business and 206 Economy seats.
Virgin Australia operate 3 days a week from Auckland to Rarotonga, using a 737 aircraft, departing Auckland on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Rarotonga the previous day (as you cross the International dateline), and returning flights Tuesday, Thursday and Friday arriving two days later (cross the International dateline again in the other direction adding a day, plus arriving after midnight into the next day).
Also, for the winter months, (June-October 2016), they will be operating a direct flight Christchurch, on New Zealand's South Island, to Rarotonga. Departing on Saturday and arriving in Rarotonga on Friday (cross the date line), and returning the same day, Friday to arrive back in Christchurch on Sunday (date line and midnight time crossing), this will save visitors having to travel up to Auckland to get to the Cook Islands.
Jetstar, a new
airline starting in New Zealand, started a new flight schedule from
Auckland to Rarotonga in March 2016. At present, they are
planning to operate from and to Auckland on Tuesday, Saturday and
Sunday, with the return flight being the same days, due to arriving
and departing after midnight, and will arrive back in Auckland the
following days, due to crossing the international dateline.
Air Tahiti
operate up to twice weekly flights from Papeete, Tahiti to
Rarotonga, currently on a Saturday and Thursday. However, on
most weeks they only operate the Thursday flight!
All
domestic flights within the Cook islands are operated
by Air Rarotonga. Their main route
is Rarotonga to Aitutaki, on which they operate up to five daily
services, except Sunday, when only one is operated (up till the end
of 2009 no flights were permitted to operate domestically on a
Sunday).
They also provide frequent services to the other main islands in
the Southern group. However, air access to the Northern group
is currently very restricted, to the point where it is almost
impossible for tourists to book flights, due to the limited seats
that are offered. Quite a lot of the time, the
seats are reserved for Government officials and the local residence
of the Northern islands.
Airline Seat Maps
For most airlines, we can pre-reserve seats for you once your flight booking is confirmed, and will do so as a matter of course. If you would like to have a look at a seat plan for your aircraft, you can check the airlines' own website, or one of the best independent websites for this information is SeatGuru.com, which is part of the Tripadvisor group.
