Kosrae (pronounced Kosh-rye) is one of the island States that make up the Federated States of Micronesia. It is located just north of the Equator, and is the second largest island in the Federation. Kosrae is a paradise for divers and adventurers alike, with what the locals claim are the most beautiful white beaches in Micronesia.
Kosrae is called "The Sleeping Lady" because of the shape of one of its picturesque mountains. The island is covered with dense tropical jungles and high volcanic peaks, with lush river valleys and spectacular views. The island is surrounded by active fringing reefs teeming with splendidly colorful tropical fish feeding off the spectacular corals. Visibility often exceeds 30 metres (100') - perfect for spotting paddling sea turtles and large rays winging their way through the blue waters. The coral reefs, which slope steeply into the clear blue depths, are one of the great attractions of Kosrae. Equally attractive are its warm-hearted people. Visitors leave here with vivid memories and a yearning to return.
Your base from which to explore all that Kosrae has to offer is the Nautilus Resort. This 18 room single storey property set in lush tropical gardens, is located on the islands costal road across from its own private beach.

Kosrae remains an immaculate garden of flowers, citrus trees and rich, verdant greenery. Explore on foot or by car: follow a guide up Mt. Oma to visit multiple cascading waterfalls, or catacombing WWII Japanese caves hidden in the lush jungles of this island paradise. The nearby Visitors Center can advise you on many historical island aspects.
From the Kosrae Nautilus Resort you can explore the 15th-century Lelu ruins, just a 5 minute drive away. We a can also arrange a guided hike through the rain-forest to the Menke ruins.
Also paddling through the winding mangrove channels in our kayaks is an experience not to be missed. Broad channels lead to lush inlets, where you can see all manner of fish, crabs, and perhaps even spot a large monitor lizard sunning in a tree. The mangrove trees themselves are lovely sights, often laden with large ferns.

Access to Micronesia is a challenge for travellers from Europe, which we feel adds to the interest and adventure in travelling to this part of the world
Guam is the island with the most International air service, with daily flights from Honolulu, Tokyo, Sipan and regular flights to Seoul, Cairns, Hong Kong, Osaka, Taipei and Manila, provided by a number of carriers, including Continental Micronesia/United, Korean Air, China Airlines, Japan Airlines, Delta and All Nippon,
To visit Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae and the Marshall islands, there are currently just two access airports; Honolulu and Guam. From these airports, Continental Micronesia/United operate regular island hopping flights between them in both directions, stopping at the four island nations, providing both primary access and inter-island connections.
Currently, the best flight connections to Guam from the UK are via Seoul, Hong Kong or Tokyo, as they only require one stop on route to get to Guam. Currently routing via Honolulu will require two stops. However, if you are only interested in visiting the eastern islands of The Marshall Islands, and Kosrae, then travelling via Honolulu would be the best routing, as they are closer to Honolulu than Guam, so it will be less travelling time.
To vists Yap and Palau (Belau) you will need to route via Guam, from where Continental Micronesia/United provide regular flights, in additionally you can reach Palau from Manila, Seoul and Taipei.
This limited air access makes it very difficult (but not impossible) to plan an itinerary that includes Micronesia with Melanesian and Polynesia, but if you wish to include these islands on your travels, we can accommodate you.
